PVC Tube with Migration Barrier
Introduction All
plasticisers that are used in the
production of PVC-tubes
(e.g. DEHP, DINCH,
TEHTM,…) have
migration potential
Long term results for the alternative plasticisers are missing. The migration potential of new plasticisers like DINCH and TEHTM is higher then the migration of DEHP. Experiment
description
Tube
samples of 1 m length were filled with isopropanol
and
blood respectively and were moved into a Chandlerloop.
After various reaction periods the plasticiser concentration in the eluate was measured. In order to prove the functional capability with different plasicisers, tubes containing DEHP and TEHTM were used. Results
Results:
Isopropanol as solvent

![]() Efficiency of the
migration barrier:
No significant increase of the plastiziser in the human blood Summary
PVC
Tubes with barrier:
-Show
no significant increase of plasticisers in the human
blood
-Reduce the migration of plasticisers by more than 99 %, even when strong solvents (like Iso-propanol) are used |
